Advanced Finishing U.S.A. is a family owned custom powder coating and finishing company that has fulfilled the finishing needs of local, national, and international companies since 1970. Conveniently located in Erie, Pennsylvania near the junctions of I-79, I-80, and I-90, Advanced Finishing U.S.A. is on the threshold of the supply routes from coast to coast, and from Canada to Mexico. This allows us to finish, assemble, package, and ship product direct from suppliers, en-route to final customers, as the last link in the supply chain.

We are a flexible job shop that has capacity to clean, pre-treat, sandblast, finish, assemble and package a variety of parts ranging from nuts and washers, to 12,000lb forgings and 40 foot long I-beams. We have finished and assembled a variety of fabrications, castings, and stampings for the electronic, automotive, rail, and service industries.

Advanced Finishing U.S.A. strives to use only environmentally friendly materials, and takes pride in maintaining a zero discharge status with the Great Lakes Initiative Waste Water Control program.

HISTORY AND PHILOSOPHY
Advanced Finishing U.S.A. (formerly Erie Advanced Manufacturing) was founded by Walter J. Yahn in 1970. A Penn State Industrial Engineer by profession, Walt was a visionary in two areas. First, he foresaw the growth of the powder coatings industry and its potential contribution to manufacturing in the region. This propelled him to establish Advanced Finishing U.S.A. and to slowly develop a full array of powder coating technologies and capabilities. Second, he was an early student of Demming and the other pioneers of the Total Quality Management movement. He understood immediately the importance of customer focus, quality, and service to a small business.

With these guidelines firmly rooted, Walt slowly built his company into the finest powder coating specialty business in the tri-state region, creating a reputation for quick response, customer focus and uncompromised attention to quality. Walt's sons, Jeff and Greg Yahn, joined the company full time in the 1980's and have since taken over day to day responsibilities.

OUR CUSTOMERS
Our clients range from the Fortune 100 giants such as General Electric, IBM, Xerox, Motorola, Bombardier, and Harley Davidson, to one-person "garage shop" operations and individual consumers. Advanced Finishing U.S.A. has the flexibility which allows us to finish virtually any size product as well as the capacity to efficiently manage production runs ranging from single items to millions of parts per year.

We offer all standard varieties of powder coatings including Epoxies, Polyesters, Hybrids, TGIC Polyesters, Urethane, Nylon, Vinyl and exotics including Teflon® and Haylar. In addition to these coating capabilities, we also act as consultants to clients with powder coating problems, we assist in the design of powder coating processes for clients who wish to do their own work, we do light assembly work, and design complete product packages for our customers.

Although we are an independent finishing company, we work closely with several high quality and highly competitive fabricators and foundries. This gives us the ability to quote complete finished packages to customers. We are the prime contractor for several of our customers and are currently shipping finished product direct to their final customers. We are capable of coordinating all aspects of production, finishing, packaging, and shipping to most customer specifications.
